Welcome to The Colorful Writers Retreat.

We are thrilled to launch this inaugural retreat for six writers at Les Terres de Gaïa in Gers, France! This five-day retreat will include

  • Creative writing workshops, and one-one-one story development with an established writer in two small groups.

  • Story coverage, private writing time, and group readings of all writers work presented over three nights.

  • Guest speaker with Artist in Residence, Takis Candilis on his life as a producer/director in Europe and his approach to screenwriting. Other guest speakers are in discussion.

The philosophy of The Colorful Writers Retreat is a holistic one, allowing participants a nurturing approach to the creative writing process. Our retreat is at a spa and promotes wellness of mind, body and spirit to help participants fulfill their potential as creative writers.

The retreat will include structured writing workshops in small groups to help writers with their individual projects. The schedule will include daily awakening yoga classes (non-intensive/all levels), evening mediation, walks among the grounds, use of all facilities including swimming pool, yoga room, library, and kitchen. All meals are included in the price of the retreat to feed your creativity and your soul.

Spa services will be made available to all participants and can be booked separately through Les Terres des Gaïa. (Massage therapy, Kinesiology, Iyashi Dome, and beauty treatments are not included in our package but sold separately through Les Terres des Gaïa. These treatments can be booked before you travel or onsite.)

Storytellers from diverse, underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged to apply for a spot. Women, LGBTQIA+, Bipoc, persons in recovery and persons with other disabilities.

*French natives who wish to write in English and learn standards of writing in English are encouraged to apply. Translation services are not provided, but French is spoken by your hosts.

**Travel expenses to and from the train station at Agen via Paris or Toulouse, and any accommodations outside of the retreat dates are the sole responsibility of participants. Participants are welcome to bring their own vehicle to Les Terres des Gaïa.

Excursions to local sites will be made available on Saturday and Sunday.
